Troll Beads And Pandora Beads: Learn About What’s Different

The best way to understand and see the difference between the two types of bead bracelets is to actually look at the beads and sets that are available. As not everyone is able to do this, I am going to attempt to show some of the differences between the two in this article. Having said that though, I still concur that it is best to look at the bead selections and note the difference yourself.

History:
Both Troll beads and Pandora beads were first made in Europe, in the same country–Denmark. Troll beads hit the scene in a small, modest way in 1976. Pandora charms followed a little later, with the first beads being made in 1982. Both types of bracelets and charms were hand crafted in small home workshops, and were sold locally at first to a small clientele. Both types of beads quietly became more popular, requests for specific designs were made by potential customers and thus the variety of beads|charms available grew.

Troll beads and Pandora charms are now internationally popular and sold in many different countries worldwide.

What the Charms are Made From:
Both Pandora beads and Troll beads are made from similar material, most commonly silver, gold and Italian Murano glass. Both type of beads are sometimes set with precious and semi-precious gems. Troll charms also feature charms made from, or set with pearls.

Variety of Beads For Sale:
Troll beads are said to take their inspiration from mythology, astrology, fairy tales, fauna, flora, cultural diversity, and, as with the Pandora charms, from familiar things of everyday objects.

In comparing the designs of both sets of charms they are different. There is no hard and fast category for either type of bead, but in my opinion the Pandora beads reflect more the common, normal, everyday life and the Troll beads are a little more artsy in their design. That’s not to say that there aren’t common, everyday representative troll charms, or vice versa, but overall I found the Pandora charms to more often symbolise everyday life, and the troll charms to draw more on mythology or fantasy for its creations.

Pandora charms and Troll charms both sell alphabet charms and animal beads. Troll beads have a lovely selection of fairytale beads in silver which would inspire anyone who loves fantasy creatures and tales. I was particularly impressed with the castle! The spring 2009 collection of Troll charms also include a Murano glass fantasy flower bead and a Fairy bead that has a silver fairy on a Murano Glass bead. Spring Pandora charms, soon to be released, include a diamond studded gold bead, a selection of silver charms with jigsaw pieces attached to them, new Murano charms, four new handbag designs, and a gold teddy bear to name just a few.

Are They the Same?:
One important thing to note is that Pandora charms will fit on a troll bracelet, but not all troll beads will fit on a Pandora bracelet. This is because the Pandora bracelet has threaded sections, and as Troll charms do not have threading inside they may become fixed on the threaded sections of the Pandora bracelet. There are about 23 Troll beads that could work on the Pandora bracelet, though this amount varies depending on new beads and retired charms.

If you are interested in seeing the difference yourself, there are very good sites on line where you can go and see close up photos of the different charms.
